Home Made Treats For Your Horse

Why buy expensive horse treats at the store when you can make some from household ingredients? We have compiled some of our favorite recipes that are perfect for telling your horse just how special he is.

Only the Best Carrot/Apple Cake

1 carrot
1 apple
1 cup molasses
2 1/2 cups oats
2 Tablespoons oil

Directions:
Preheat oven to 300 degrees
Grate the carrot and apple
Mix together all ingredients
Place mixture in baking tray
Bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown
Cool for four hours in refrigerator

So Sweet Feed Treats

powdered sugar
4 cups sweet feed
1/4 cup brown sugar
3 cups molasses
2 grated carrots
2 grated apples
1/2 cup flour

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Mix together all ingredients, except powdered sugar
Form into large balls and press flat onto greased cookie sheet
Bake for 20 minutes
Cool, then sprinkle with powdered sugar

Stable Snacks

1 cup flour
1 cup oats
2 cups of water
1/2 cup finely chopped carrots
1/2 cup finely chopped apples
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons canola oil
4 peppermint candies
1/3 cup molasses

Directions:
Mix together all ingredients in a large bowl.
Roll into one inch balls and flatten.
Put in oven at 325 degrees for 20 minutes.

Horse Biscuits

Honey
1/2 apple
Grated carrots and carrot chunks
Milk
Whole-wheat flour
Oatmeal

Directions:
Mix grated carrots and carrot chunks, grated apple, oatmeal, whole-wheat flour and honey in a bowl.
Stir until sticky and doughy.
Add a little milk to the mixture milk to make it moist, but still doughy.
Shape the dough into balls and bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
Let cool.
